AKAD >> Language+Culture >> Chinese
1.3 billion people speak Chinese. This makes Chinese the most widely-spoken mother tongue in the world. This still applies if we consider that Chinese can be broken down into a number of very different dialects. Almost all Chinese people, however, speak the standardised official language, also known as Mandarin.
The most important business language in eastern Asia today is also one of the official languages of the UN and in the near future is likely to become one of the most important international foreign languages.
