Rhaeto-Romanic is spoken in parts of the Swiss canton of Graubünden. It has been a national language of Switzerland (alongside German, French and Italian) since 1938. However, Rhaeto-Romanic is restricted in its function as an official language of the federal government;although all citizens have the right to address the federal government and receive a response in Rhaeto-Romanic, not all laws are automatically passed in Rhaeto-Romanic. In 1982, the five regional dialects were merged into a standard/homogeneous written language, the Romansh ‘Grischun’.

Did you know that...

… you will immediately be identified as a tourist in Italy if you order a cappuccino after your meal. You only have that for breakfast. Not much better are those who order "un espresso" ("un caffé" is actually an espresso), or who order wine with pizza.
