Serbian is spoken by approximately 12 million people worldwide. It is the official language of Serbia and also widely used in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Croatia and Macedonia. Since 2006 the language has officially been written in Cyrillic script. However in everyday use and in the media the Latin form is also used. Serbian is very similar to both Croatian and Bosnian, so that their speakers can easily communicate.
